Ultrafilters in Dialysis – All the Information about It

To live a happy life it is very important that all the organs of your body function in a proper manner. However, in spite of proper diet and exercise, there are chances that one or the other organs may not function properly. Let us learn about kidneys related problems over here.

Everyone is aware that kidneys are an important organ of our body. It removes the excess fluid and waste from your blood by the process of filtration. Waste is then sent to the bladder and through urination, the waste is removed. If due to any reason the kidney fails to perform its function through dialysis the function can be performed.

Know how ultrafiltration works

If you think that is any problem related to the kidney then it is better that you can consult the doctor without any delay. Ultrafilters in dialysis are the only option to solve the problem related to the kidney. The most important thing is that you need to be regular in your dialysis. Do not skin any dialysis that has been informed to you by your doctor. It would also be great if you limit the intake of salt on daily basis.

Ultrafiltration is used in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Based on the problem of your kidney and its treatment doctor will decide which one should be used. If there is any injury or disease because of which your kidney is not able to perform the way it should there is no need to delay dialysis. If you delay in getting checked it from the doctor and prolong the wastes and salts will be accumulated in the blood.

This will result in damage to other organs and might also poison your body.

Risks in Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis

In hemodialysis, one can experience muscle crapping, low blood pressure, anemia, itching, sleeping problems, irregular heartbeat, or sudden cardiac death. While in peritoneal dialysis one can experience high blood sugar, weight gain, hernia, stomach pain, fever, and weakening of abdominal muscles. The most common in peritoneal dialysis is peritonitis. It is basically an infection that is caused by catheter placement. If you face any such problems while you are on dialysis it is better that you inform the healthcare personal who is performing this treatment.

You will only be told to go for dialysis when your kidney does function properly. It is also considered as not only expensive but time-consuming as well. There is another option of a kidney transplant but for this, you need not obese, should not be smoking or drinking alcohol.
